Home Security Update — Home Invasions

Two years in production. Our Home Security course has been rebuilt from the ground up and now includes a dedicated chapter on home invasions — mitigation, intervention, and the decisions that happen in the first thirty seconds when a door gives way.

The chapter draws from documented Canadian case files, RCMP briefings, and after-action reports from our own instructors. It is not sensational. It is procedural. We walk through the physical hardening of your entry points, the behavioural cues that precede a targeted invasion, and the tiered response options available to a family that has trained together.

We built this because the Canadian threat landscape has shifted. Home invasions are no longer a rare, opportunistic event in this country — they are increasingly planned, crew-based, and violent from the first breach. Our previous curriculum treated home security as a perimeter problem. It is now a perimeter, behavioural, and family-coordination problem.

What is included in the new chapter:

• Pre-attack indicators — surveillance patterns, probing behaviours, and the difference between a curious stranger and a scout.

• Physical hardening — the specific hardware, screw lengths, strike plates and reinforcement kits our instructors deploy on their own homes.

• Family plan — role assignment, muster points, communication trees, and the language you use with children so they act instead of freeze.

• Intervention decisions — engage, evade, or barricade. The framework we teach for choosing under time pressure.

• Post-incident — legal, medical, and psychological steps in the first 24 hours.
