New Course — Privacy in Practice: Protecting Personal Information

New release. Privacy in Practice: Protecting Personal Information is now live — the initial qualification course that teaches Canadian organizations how to handle personal information properly and in accordance with PIPEDA.

Privacy is no longer a back-office concern handled by legal or IT alone. It is an operational responsibility. Every employee who collects, records, shares, or stores personal information is a point of risk — and a point of defense. This course is built for those front-line operators: staff who handle data daily and need practical guidance, not a law degree.

The curriculum is a mix of theory, presentations, individual surveys, case studies, scenario-based training, and quizzes. Participants work through the material at their own pace, with approximately 1.5 hours of structured content. Most complete it in 2 to 3 hours, including the assignments. LTT Tactical instructors are available throughout the course by chat, email, or telephone for any support.

The course focuses on four core objectives that translate directly into daily work:

• Recognize personal information — understand what qualifies as personal information under PIPEDA and where it commonly lives in organizational workflows.

• Limit its collection and disclosure — apply the principles of necessity, consent, and purpose limitation so data is only gathered and shared when it should be.

• Secure it appropriately — identify the physical, technical, and administrative safeguards that match the sensitivity of the information.

• Escalate uncertainty appropriately — know when a situation is outside your authority and how to raise it without delay or ambiguity.

This is an initial qualification course of 2.5 hours. It is designed for anyone in an organization who touches personal information and needs a clear, defensible standard for handling it. Certification is awarded on completion.
